Firmware update to v5.381 now available to download for 2015/2016 Android TVs.
Just trying it now on my KD-43X8305C.
Updated OK with no problems ...
I can confirm 7.0 Nougat even if it says This firmware update introduces Android Marshmallow
Huge update, last version was 3.x
I'm waiting for feedbacks as rollback is not possible... I'm afraid to loose flow motion in Android Apps as it occured on 2017 Sony TV.
It's been out in US since a few months and nothing extraordinariy has been reported yet
As far as I see the so called update doesn't bring any noticeable fixes including my own bugs. So no rush really .
downloading mine now, hoping it stops the random reboots

That's exactly what they want to make you believe. It is just a numbers game...
Can somebody tell us how long the w805c takes time for booting the TV from unplugged from AC -> show a picture and entering the action menu after this update?
It´s a mess not having the possibility to do a rollback.
My huawei smartphone does offer this...
I'm afraid to loose flow motion in Android Apps as it occured on 2017 Sony TV.
I also lost the motion flow option after performing the last 4 updates!! But not only for apps! This key feature option also was gone for all HDMI inputs! After a while the motion flow feature gladly appears in the menu... That was the reason, why i bought this TV.
@all Did Sony finally solve the colour-temperature-fault?
Hello
I performed the update on my KDL-43W805C Android TV 2015 using a USB stick on the first day.
- I didn't have major problems except for some lag right after the update, didn't perform a factory reset before nor after the update. Also I had a minor problem with google cast not connecting, but i solved it with reinstalling google cast reciever.
- I have no problems with HDMI ARC using my Sony Shake X30D.
- Booting the tv from unplugged till showing a picture took 54 seconds, and another 25 seconnds to show the action menu, which makes it a total od 1 minute and 19 seconds.
- Motionflow works for me on HDMI and apps. I'll try with different aspect ratios and test it some more then I'll get back with more info.
- Also about colour temperature I'll test this too and tell you my result.
I am very sattisfied with my TV and the Android TV platform, I agree it wasn't very stable or working flawlessly, but it took time for the platform to mature. It is far from perfect as it still needs some more polishing and optimizations, but I wouldn't change it for another smart OS.
Cheers
Okay, so, I own a 55W805C, I know about all the issues that occured since 6.0.. that's why I haven't updated my w805c at all (still on 5.1.1)... I'm wondering if it is save to update to 7.0 from 5.1.1. .. are all these issues that were appearing since 6.0. fixed?? (Random reboots... random TV turning itself on etc. amazon lip sync stuff.. audio issues..)
I'm planing to update but I'm afraid to do so, because I wouldn't be able to roll back to 5.1.1. all by myself.
Oh, and another thing I should mention: for anyone having the "TV turns itself on" issue try this:
- don't turn off your TV within the application (home) menu... where you can see all your apps and stuff..
turn it off within an input source like HDMI1 ... this is a perfect workaround for these random tv startups (at least for me on 5.1.1).
