BBC iPlayer Blue Planet 2 uhd hdr

10th December this will be available on uhd and hdr on Sony 2017 models. 

Did anyone hear of a plan to introduce the  BBC hdr to older Sony models? I believe they are using a different type of hdr than currently installed on the 2015 /2016 models.

Most likely you could do it either way. I also believe, if automatic, than this will be pushed To certain devices at specific times to avoid congestion

I have just checked mine and the Firmware update has not been made. Any
idea how long the roll out will take?

If you can't/don't want to wait, you can download the FW from Sony's website and install it manually.

When the update eventually comes. What's the best way to test the HDR?

The annoying thing is that there is currently no content to test it, so let's hope it is working!

Does this update just give 4k capability for BBC iPlayer?

Has anyone heard back from Sony about a new FW update to support iPlayer 4K? My TV is a KD-49XE7002 and I too would like to know when I can watch BBC iPlayer in 4K...

I received the update last week in the UK.

Apparently the BBC live streamed a 4k rugby match over the weekend, but I've only just found out about it, so missed it. Would have been a good test!
