All,
Just wondered, since the Iplayer/Catchup update, I am now experiencing audio drops, sometimes just very small other times it last 2-3 seconds. Its on all Google TV services, Disney/Netflix/Iplayer.
Have changed nothing else, connected with Ethernet and tried on Wifi.
Video no frame lost, all good so connectivity looks good. I am using external amp via eARC, all other devices on same network are fine eg Sky Q.
Before the Iplayer update, the Google services like Disney/Netflix were great, Atmos and everything else.
Had a look at the Google TV options for Audio but nothing solves it?
Regards
Eddie
Hey there,
Before trying actually troubleshooting steps, is this drop-out happening on the TV speakers? or do you have any soundbar or speakers connected to the TV?
But in the meantime, you can check the SYNC settings on the TV.
Cheers.
Yep agree need to give this a test and was my next thinking to isolate TV vs connection to amp output
Well, after bit of testing, confirmed that with TV internal speakers no issues
After couple of adding back the Denon Amp with eARC connected the issue would show
Now after runing the back with internal speakers and then reset the amp, the problem seems to be gone.
Need to run a bit longer and do some power cycles and see if it returns.
So at least we know its looks connect issue between TV and Amp, have 48gb HDMI connection and been using the setup since last year May, never seen the issue till the update but may just need a bit full reset between amp / tv and eARC since that update to synch everything.
Keep you posted.
After some more use over the weekend can confirm still seeing the issue, its very intermittent sometimes wont show till 30mins into a program but then can keep going every 10 to 15 mins, very random and lasts 1-2 secs and sometimes on occasion drops audio few seconds say upto 10 then comes back.
Looking at eARC setting on TV and Denon Amp, trying few changes (random to see), not shown anything that solves it yet.
Will keep playing. Need try if off Air Freeview has the same issue, does not show on any device direct audio connected to amp and video out to TV, only where it seems so far Audio is routed from eARC back to Amp but so far I only use the Google TV for this. As stated so far internal speakers have not shown it yet but might need to run longer to see.
Anyone seen issues routing Audio back via eARC would be useful?
FYI, I had this setup since May 21 when I got the TV/Amp and only seen it since the recent Iplayer update before Christmas?
Just reading other articles on the forum seems to happen in the past and some common issues.
One is the eARC Audio setup setting from Off to Auto, mine is at Auto, just gone back to Off and so far so good for short test, need to see how it works out for longer term.
So far so good so turning eARC audio from Auto to off seems to work so far after few hours of use no audio drops.
No other impact I can see, in fact much better when switch inputs too.
So not sure if a bug in the auto option
Hey eddieseymour, it might be a compatibility issue between the two devices. however, what's the current software version on your TV?
TV Is latest and greatest no updates, It could be most likly I expect the sky box as I switch from Google to my Sky box as main TV content and seen some strange switching issues.
But anyhow happy now I found a soultion, dont want to break it 🙂
