Apple TV+ on Bravia KD-49XG9005 available ?

I am the proud owner of a Sony KD-49XG9005  purchased last summer. I now have an Apple TV+ subscription as part of a freebie with a new iPhone. I cannot find the app on the TV and I am wondering if it's available or do I have to go and buy an Apple TV box. A bit confused at the moment. What is Air Play, is that relevant to all of this ?  Can anybody help please

Any app that's not found on Google play isn't officially supported on the TV. The availability of apps depends purely on the developer.

You could probably get the app on an external device like a Firestick or a Roku.
