Hello folks. I am in a need of some help. I have a Denon 1713 and my previous tv, Sony 55W905 from 2013 was plugged in with that.
I got a new tv, Sony 65XF9005 and I plugged it in, TV's HDMI3 port wich have ARC and recievers HDMI Out (Monitor ARC), just like my previous TV. HDMI cable 2.0
ARC Works like it should be with normal tv channels, but if I try to see something with TV app (Netflix, HBO) the sound is weird, like 4-5 times faster and clipped.
It doesen't matter if HD material of 4K. Same thing. Tried different HDMI cable, same thing. Ended up using optical cable and with that, Neflix etc works, but I would like to use ARC and just 1 remote.
I have a nagging suspicion that Sonys ARC/software is the culprit (Nougat still - not Oreo).
I am otherwise perfectly happy with my Denon and wouldn't like to rush out to buy a new for 600-700 and end up noticing that it has same problem.
In tv menu, Sound, digital sound output” 3 settings ”auto1” ”auto2” and ”PCM”.
Auto1 was checked. I tried all of them and Voila, PCM did the trick, but I only got 2.0 stereo to my reciever.
Still would like to have 5.1 sound.

It could perhaps be that your receiver is having difficulties with the DD/DD+ signal its receiving from the TV. So first check to see if DENON has not published any firmware updates for your receiver lately.
Next try to isolate the problem by playing back titles from Netflix which only contain the standard DD stream and not a DD+ stream. This helps to know if the issue is only concerning the DD+ signal from the TV or also concerns the DD signal. An alternative approach to isolate between the two signal types is to first find and set the option below from the HOME screen.
Then open an app causing the issue (e.g. Netflix), find and set the options below as listed. Make sure you have disconnected the optical cable between the TV and AVR and also that you have set the [Speakers] to [Audio System] before starting to playback any content on the app.
Proceed to playback content on the app which is known to you that was producing the issue before. If the issue is no longer occurring then there is an incompatibility between your TV and AVR concerning only DD+. Although this type of incompatibility is extremely rare, it still can occur due to random faults in the software of the TV. So a good idea is to perform a Factory Data Reset on the TV to see if that alleviates the issue. You can find instructions on how to perform a Factory Data Reset on your TV on this article.
I also see you mention having an HDMI 2.0 cable. Note that there is technically no such as an HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 cable! Instead you should be looking to use cables marked as High Speed HDMI with Ethernet or better even Ultra High Speed HDMI. I strongly discourage anyone from using HDMI cables other than Premium Certified HDMI cables. The reason is simply to avoid the large number of non-compliant manufacturers saturating the market with non-reliable HDMI cables which due to incorrect shielding techniques and materials often produce issues.

IMPORTANT: Be aware that if you perform a factory reset, all of the TV's data and settings (Wi-Fi and wired network setting information, Google account and other login information, Google Play and other installed applications, etc.) will be erased, and the TV will return to how it was at the time of purchase.
Im having the same issue with a Marantz NR1403 and a 43FX87.
Have you tried an optical audio cable between the TV and the amp for 5.1 output? I might try that next.
Yes. Optical works with auto1 and 2, but then I have to use 2 remote, at least to start my reciever and I get DD, not DD+.
If I choose auto1 or auto2 with HDMI my reciever shows Dolby Digital+ as it should be, but the sound is corrupted. Pcm works with HDMI like said, but then I only get 2 channel stereo to reciever.

I also have problems with DD+ and my Denon AVR-X2300W. Before Oreo it worked like it should but since Oreo I get frequent audio drop out. I have support ticket at Sony and they have made me try different things including factory reset. Last info from them (like a week ago) was that there is a new software version that's supposed to fix this.

I believe that the issue you're having is related to the Oreo update. I've found an article on the Sony website to state that the automatic update has been suspended due to some issues with audio systems and a fix will be provided in the next software update. Problem, likely, solved.
I changed from tv Dolby digital plus output to dolby digital. Sound via ARC is just fine.
Might be that my 2014 Denon 1713 can’t handle DD+ via ARV even if the support for DD+ is there.
DD+ via ARC was introduced, I think in 2015, and if I want it I need to get a new reciever.
That can wait. I am happy with my Sony and Denon and DD 5.1 is enoug now.
