I know this topic has been up a lot and I apologize. I just can't find exactly what I'm looking for in the forum.
I have the 43W805C TV and looking to buy 3D glasses. On a forum post from a month ago I read that Samsung (model SSG-51002) glasses works with 43W807C. He even said that the Sony supporter advised him to buy them because Sony's are too expensive.
And this is where I agree. I love Sony as much as the next guy but 62 euros/68 dollars a piece is a bit much when you need 3 of them.
The one's recommened (allegedly) by the Sony supporter comes in a pair for 30 euros/34 dollars.
If they work on W807C will they work on W805C as well?
Or is there another alternative to Sony's 3D glasses?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I have a KDL-50W809c which uses active glasses.
Was going to buy SONY £70 glasses but these are far too expensive.
What you need to look for is the FULL HD 3D RF logo on the boxes of other glasses.
I bought Samsung SSG-P51002 from currys at £24 for 2 pairs. (£12.99 each if bought seperate)
these pair with the set fine but dont display any battery warning if low. Glasses fit fine over other specs but are best used in a pitch black room with no other lights as thatey have no side blanks to block out ecternal lights.
I also keep min e in a show box with the batterys taken out until the next use. not that much a pian as only watch 3D every now and then.
Cheap but branded and they work.
(don't buy 3d DLP galsses as these only work with 3d projectors)
Cheers
Hi, I bought active glasses for my tv 55x8509 on ebay. They are cheap about 9 pounds and working ok.
So in theory any 3D glasses should work as long as it's active (if tv is active) and either IR or Bluetooth?

Thank you for your answer @TheRookieUK! So that's two people who said that the P51002 works with Sony 2015 line of TV's.
I'm just not sure what to do because on another thread a sony supporter said that Sony's glasses link via bluetooth (on my exact tv) which would mean that it's bluetooth.
And if I know my stuff - which I'm sure I don't - RF is not the same thing as bluetooth. Although it's radio frequencies as well.
Can you confirm or deny this Rookie?
I guess I can always buy the Samsung and return them if they don't work.
Well Sony's doesn't have the side things either so that's not a decission killer
Hi There
I cannot vouch for other manufacturers glasses, simply because I have not tested them myself. So one can only go on what has worked for others. I too have a KDL-43W805C TV - Dont have 3D Glasses at this stage.
Sony has created this support article for their offical glasses.
Anything that has BT in it (ie TDG-BT500A) is bluetooth. At the end of the model, you will notice an 'A' or a 'P' - this indicates ACTIVE or PASSIVE in regards to the 3D Technology.
Cheers
have you looked at your manual?
Is the 3D RF logo on the box or the Manual?
If so they will work.
I thought all TV's had IR or RF and Projectors have DLP.
Can't help much more. I would buy the glasses 1 pair from Currys at £12.99 and try them.
Cheers Dan
Since about 2-3 years the 3D galasses for TVs are standardized and Bluetooth.
I also use Samsung (30 Euro a pair in Bulgaria) and they are fine.
Ofcourse Sony advertizes that it only works with Sony glasses, which is stupid. Same is with their Sideview Android app - they advertise it works only with Sony Android wear smartwathces, but I use it on my Moto 360
I did not get a manual with my TV? Weird.
Anyways, thank you all for your help! I did buy the Samsung SSG-5100 3D glasses and they work perfectly with the tv. The only fault is that subtitles are hard to read. Don't know if that has anything to do with 3D glasses, TV or video. They don't feel that comfortable either in the beginning. But after a few minutes you don't even notice.
Thanks again everyone!
