I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

Yes, sure, on a single tuner set.
But are you saying that I can't switch away from the recording to the second tuner on a two-tuner set, and watch something else?
That would blow chunks 😞
I can only assume you can watch a second channel whilst recording another using a tv with a twin tuner. I say assume, because i cant test this myself, but thats the purpose of a twin tuner
The original issue that mk1.golf.1983 wrote about the tv going to a blank screen and remote failing happened to me initially on my single tuner tv, which for some reason seems to have cured itself on my set
Would it really surprise anybody that only one tuner out of the two will work at once on this “tv “?

Hi there
Q1 - Can you please post more info on your networking issue in this THREAD
Q2 - I had this issue too, when i was testing. At the time i just turned my TV off and went to bed - so agreed, needs looking at
Q3 - I dont have a proper HDD to test this one (im using USB stick, even though Sony says it dont work - well one function doesnt work) - would love it if someone could confirm this....
Cheers

Re Q2 my model is a single tuner, so I cannot test this, however I can confirm that a recording to HDD finished, whilst I was watching a alternative source via HDMI caused no problems.
Re Q3 I have a 500 GB Seagate USB drive attached, working fine. It seems that I can do a soft reset fine with the drive attached. However when the TV has only just been turned on, it will not respond to a long press on the remote. The set needs to be running for a minute or two whilst the OS stabilises. That is not an issue.
I have a new serious issue, which wasn't there before this update and can be reliably reproduced.
EDIT: This is only a problem, when using "TV Cast (Chrom.)" app. But other casting apps, also behave unpredictably it the set is brought out of standby by casting. Note I am using an iPad for the tests.
@Anonymous thanks for the stop recording tip!
As things stand, it is odd that the remote buttons labelled "|<<" and ">>|" don't seem to do anything, but reckon it would be most useful to have adjustable-length skip controls.

KD-49X8309C A new fault since the UK V3.315 firmware upgrade.
Last night I was watching a catchup program on All4 via Youview, when the program ended I pressed Guide and selected Mastermind via the Youview guide. The sound was literally three seconds behind the picture until I soft reset the TV.
Now that I have set my 55x8509c to record a series of programs from CH4HD to a USB drive from the EPG I have the illuminated LED at the bottom centre on Amber all the time. Anyone know how to get rid of it?
Can't believe Amazon Video 5.1 still isn't working even after the latest update.
@marty.S - Not new fault. General lip sync issue if using external audio device. If not, it could just be general sluggishness that many have reported from time to time.
Any chance someone could test this - as i cant cast to mine. Thanks
