I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.
Can anyone help. Since the update my x8509 touchpad remote has stopped working changed batteries no joy Thanks
Yes, return the TV
I just wanted to add that today AO.com have picked up my 43X803 and I got a full refund.
I've had two of these things, one a 1080 and one 4k, but plagued with issues.
I watched the video of how Youview worked this morning and it looks good and fast, I wonder how long it will be before Sony has to show a caption stating, "speed and performance is not representative"...
Could do without smart comments My tv is not as bad as yours.

They may come across as smart comments but I have to agree, your best bet is to return the TV and buy something else that works. I did and am very happy with my Samsung kit now (I got rid of the TV, Z3 compact phone and PS4).
The issue seems to be a systemic lack of software development capability across the Sony corporation. Unfortunately remedying capability issues takes significant time so I doubt the 2015 or 2016 TVs will be fit for purpose.

Yet you still troll this thread?
I keep it in my favourites as a reminder of how poor the customer service from Sony has been. I also use it as an example to clients on how poor implementation and support can ruin the perception of even the best hardware.
I'm not sure providing advice based on personal experience counts as trolling.
As an aside, if Sony had released these TVs with the functionality they advertised working, or fixed it within the last 6 months since release there would be no need to advise people to steer clear, or even a need for this thread in the first place.
Hopefully the message gets back to the teams involved that you under promise and over deliver rather than subjugagte yourself to the marketing teams enthusiasm and hope that the end consumers are patient enough for you to fix it as and when you get chance.
My initial post was about something that I had not seen on these boards so I was trying to find out info not getting into a debate about returning to TVs my tv has just one issue that although it's annoying it doesn't warrant returning So i suggest you go and spend your time watching your Samsung tv instead of giving useless comments.
And my viewpoint is relevant. If you check back a few dozen pages you'll see a couple of other comments about the same issue with the remote. Since the last firmware update a number of external devices no longer work in this way, including the bluetooth remotes and TV sideview application. I believe Quinnicus has documented one of them on the bug thread.
