Hi @dafe84 again
Just to say I can't fix the error as I don't work for Sony, not do any of the Experts etc.
Hope you get it sorted soon
I agree, it really is a scam. I had my request refused with the message "Please note that you can only apply after 30 days from the date of purchase. It appears that the date of purchase is the 21st of May while the claim was submitted on the 19th of June." But, the date of purchase was 18 June and the date of the claim was 18 July and these dates are 30 days apart.
I am having the same problem - Sony PULL YOU FINGER OUT!
I ordered a 85mm lens with the promise of £50 cashback - so waited 30 days and sent all the info over I had and claim was rejected.
Sony asked for a receipt and as I had paid through paypal I sent them that. A few days later I received another rejection as they now want a VAT invoice, which I don't have as it was all bought online. So I have rang John Lewis and asked if they could send me a VAT invoice, which they are doing.
The lady I spoke to said I wasn't the first person to ring up with regards to this Sony 'promotion' and they are getting it in the neck from customers even though it's not their problem.
My next stop will be Martin Lewis or BBC's Watchdog as there seems to be a hell of a lot of people very upset by Sony's 'make it difficult and they may go away' attitude.
Hi Stuash,
Welcome to our community!
I've come across a lot of similar cases and to be honest, most of the time it's not always Sony's fault why there's a delay with cashback claims. Different claims may be rejected for different reasons but the most common is that customers aren't providing correct documents especially the VAT invoice. According to Sony, for the document to be considered as a valid proof of purchase or a VAT invoice, it needs to have the following information:
- Retailer name.
- Date of purchase.
- Your details.
- Product details.
- Amount paid ( including VAT ).
- VAT number/ Invoice number.
Some retailers may not provide a VAT invoice unless customers ask for it, that’s why they could be receiving lots of requests from customers that have been asked by Sony to do so. Which I can’t see as Sony’s fault.
Once you provide Sony with a valid VAT invoice I’m sure things will go smoothly. Let us know if you faced issues with your cashback claim.

Its to early for me to definitivly declare this a scam but I can confirm that I have just spent the last two days filling in the forms for my cashback again and again. When I finally reached the end and pressed the button marked "Claim" it took me back to the first screen. No confirmation that I had been sucessful or that there was anything else to do.
I found the website to be very un user-friendly and difficult to work my way through.
My confidence in Sony has been severely dented and I wait with baited breath to see if I get the cashback. Come on Sony, pull your finger out.
So far I have had all 3 items rejected.
1) Cannot read invoice, so took photo and sent that all 22MB
Then shrunk it and sent that as well
2) Could not read camera details, rephone camera and resent, very readable.
3) Wrong lens the GII and GMII lenses are not included, but saved getting an old design rather than a newer better one.
4) Could not read the valid lens details.
Sent a photo I took in macro with the 70-200 G II
Pretty sure all excuses covered.
Well they accepted the 22MB invoice photo, but rejected the camera for not showing hand, and not very clear.
Lens rejected for no hand, but how the f*** are we supposed to hold a lens close enough to read the number and have in hand?
And I do need a new TV Sony?
And a new AV receiver.
I am getting wary of dealing with them.
