Remote control for Sony A7R III

Hi, 
I'm new to the Sony family and find the remote control system for my A7R III puzzling. Do I really need separate apps for my smartphone AND camera? And is it possible to AF with the remote control, how about choosing the focus point? I found contradicting information online.

If your phone is an Android phone, you can control 7RM3 by connecting it to your smartphone with different ways like NFC, QR code and SSID. You can check the instructions from here

Also, you cam control the camera from Imaging Edge mobile app, you can download it on your phone then, you can check how to use instructions from here
