I've used the recommended cleaning method and there's still a persistent piece of dust which I cannot get rid of. I've found some sensor swabs but am not sure if I can use them.
Swabs are great but you still need to be careful when using them.
The biggest problem with a dry swab system is the risk of leaving additional material behind. With the wet, its streaking which can lead to even worse images overall if you over do it.
Before going onto swabs, I would try a soft brush. Lenspen products are great since they have the perfect brush but also a lens "swab".
If you do have to resort to a wet swab system, consider the following points
- Try not to use a ventilated area (risk or stirring up dust)
- Ideal place is a clean bathroom (less fabric/carpets for dust to settle)
- Only use a swab once
- Light swips are ideal since pressure could lead to the filter plate infront of the sensor cracking/scratching
- Take your time and don't panic
If you do not feel up for the challenge, there are some local stores who can do it for a small fee. I know London Camera Exchange have a good reputation but unsure if they have worked on these models or costing.
Hope that helps
