Hi all.
I m from indonesia and the same issues happened to me this morning.
Did you guys read something like creepy screen before this happened? I read some western creepy stories from reddit and from storyforyourscreen. Perhaps those website have some viruses that affect my phone? Because it just too sudden, I read some creepy chat stories and I turn off the phone because I fly to another province and after I landed, turn on the phone and this issues happened. Please response and let me know.
@Einstein89, no it does have nothing to do with your visited website. As of today, the usable screen area is only 40%, starting from 90% back in November 2016. I expect that by November 2017 the screen will be totally unusable.
Shame on you Sony, I've been using your phone since the Sony Ericsson days, started from T68.
My Z3C was the first Android phone I owned.
I give up on Sony but not in Android.
Having the same issues. Drop down stopped working a year or so back, then worked again, and then stopped again. Since yesterday, all of a sudden the soft keys are no longer working, even though they do work when the phone is still locked. Did a factory reset, didn't change anything. No solution from Sony. Too bad they also haven't introduced a decent phone since the z3, so I'll be going to another brand.
Same for me since yesterday....
Unbelievable that sony does nothing.... Really disapointed
Same here.
Suddenly, overnight, all the navigation bar buttons stopped working. And after some days I noticed that part of the upper right, to pull notifications bar, doesn't work too.
My Z3C looks like new, pristine, not even a scratch, never had any accident. But it's almost 2 years old.
I keep most of my old phones, all Android, units like Motorola Defy and LG Nexus 4, and both, even outdated and slow, never had any screen/touch issue like this.
So, thanks to my Z3C failing out of sudden, I decided to purchase other brands instead of Sony and now I'm very happy with an OP3T 128GB and the Galaxy S8.
Same here for z5c.
Another reason for me not to buy any other Sony product again.
I decided to buy a new phone, I use 2 devices through the day for professional reasons, so I purchased the Oneplus 3T, a Galaxy S8 and a Galaxy S8+. To decide two to keep.
I'm keeping 3T and S8+.
Definately recommend the 3T, even being the older model. It wil be cheaper and is faster than both Galaxy devices. Benchmarks give more points to the Samsungs, but the Oneplus is faster and show more FPS in any application I tried.
Bye Sony!
Try this, because it has helped me:
Download a dropdown app to help the top issue
Turn on glove mode to help the bottom issue.
Hope it helps you too
I've tried the repair and glove mode and still not working. It's a proper pain as I have to turn it off and on again to go back the home screen
Painful workaround....
I have suffered the pain of having a non-functioning back/home bar for.... far too long now, on my Z3 Compact.
I tried all of the 'sensible' solutions offered across the world wide interweb but to no avail. My conclusion is the phone is destined for the scrap heap.
My workaround, which I just thought I'd share having read peoples posts about rebooting to get back to the Home screen etc.... Try rotating your phone!
Rotate your phone clockwise such that the back/home buttons now appear at the (natural) top of the screen (by the Sony sign) I.e. now right side.
For me they work fine in this location so the issue is clearly one of the natural (bottom) location of the back/home.
Hope this saves someone some time/hassle, albeit only a workaround to the pathetic, basic issue which Sony seem happy to sweep under the carpet
