On my Xperia-ARC I could the screen of my mobile, show on my television, using an micro-HDMI-cable.
Now, on the Xperia-Z this is NOT possible, anymore. That is a big disappointment for me.
In the specifications of the Xperia-Z you can read, that there is HDMI-support via MHL (on the micro-USB input).
(Mobile HighDefinition Link).
But it doesn't work. I bought already two different MHL-cables, but none works.
Has anybody a positive experience with an MHL-cable? Let me know where I can buy a good cable !
Or are there any prerequisites for my television, other than it has an HDMI-input ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I haven't tested any 3:rd party cables but the phone uses a 5-pin MHL-connector. Make sure that you don't buy the 11-pin cables that are available. I believe any 5-pin cable should work as it's a standard.
the Xperia arc doesn't support MHL, you have to use the HDMI cable.
The Xperia Z does support MHL

most likely the issue is the cable(s), it might be a compatibility issue
Excuse me, if I showed to few respect for your reaction. (I have read the link, you sented to me).
(My vocabular is small, I am not native English, so I miss the nuanced words, sometimes).
I wrote: "I liked your quick respons", to help me.
But I was disappointed that you wrote a repetition from my own words, and I feeled, you had apparantly not really read my questions. (Compare my first question, with your first answer).
I am really interested in your experience with the use of an MHL-cable.
If I can, I will delete my second contribution on this forum. I had not the intension to hurt you, but indeed I was a little disappointed.
I like the Xperia-Z very, and I have respect that so many people whish te help eachother.
Excuse me for my attitude. I hope to better it.
which brand(s) are the MHL cable that you've tested so far?
That is possible (compatability issue). I already spended € 45 to 2 different MHL-cables, resp. MHL-adapters.
But both they didn't work.
So I asked: Who know an brand MHL-cable, that does really work.
Another possibility is: a problem in the software of this litte MHL-app (112 kb), on the Xperia-Z.
My question to the forum was: Has any of you the same problem with MHL, or has anybody good experience with MHL.
The third possibility is: there are prerequisites for my television. (Is an HDMI-input in my television not enough).
I tested a MHL-cable of: "Delock" (www.delock.com, art.nr: 83244).
I tested a MHL-adapter from website: Replace-Direct.nl. This would be the Samsung-adapter. But after I got it, there was not the name "Samsung" on it.
I saw on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHa56Dm2j_8
but, as I said: by my, it doesn't work.

I'm interested in this keep us posted
Sony should have supplied the correct cable in the box or at least offer one for sale that works with their devices - this is an issue they don't need and shouldn't have
Something else for the XZ bashers to have a go at
