I can send emails using other non Gmail accounts on the phone, but cannot send a Gmail, only receive them. Everything was fine until Google security alerted to me to change my password. I can access my gmail account fine on laptop and phone, I can even send a gmail from laptop to phone, but not from phone to the laptop. Password is accepted in Settings on the phone no problem.
Hi @Crashpalace
Welcome to the community!
Sorry to hear about that, sounds frustrating
Are you using the Gmail app on the phone or the standard Email application? Or possibly another app?
Let me know
Can use the standard email app, but it's the gmail app that is giving me the problem. I have since dumped that app and added the chrome version, it's pretty and colourful, it works. (don't like it though!) But it will do.
Thanks for confirming that
Have you tried clearing the data from the Gmail application?
Go to settings > apps > all > Gmail > clear data > force stop
Once you have done that re-open the Gmail app and see if it will work for you.
Let me know how it goes if you get a chance to try that
Hi Crashpalace, Google security alerted me too, but my problem is the Email app. To make it short, I just used my one of my old 64GB sdxc memory card. Once inserted, just go to File Commander, watch 2 pic, a minute of vid from a more than 400MB mp4, a gif file, another 2 pic, unmount the sdxc card and shut down the phone.
Take off the SIM card and wait for about 10 minutes or so and then factory reset your device. Get new email accounts. My old emails are compromised. Do not try to forward your old email(s) content to your new ones, not even through Internet Cafe or somewhere else. Probably kinda like transferring data between 2 devices via NFC. I wanted to tell my whole story but this message system won't let me. Probably because it's too long.
OMG,
That is an insane effort on your part and a massive compromise on your email accounts.
I just deleted the Gmail App and Installed the Gmail Chrome App, problem solved. But thank you for sharing your experience/knowledge with me
No I haven't, those sort of instructions freak me out-"go back to factory settings" means to me "lose everything and don't expect to recover any of it". Might as well toss the phone in the bin in that case!
I simply deleted the Gmail App and installed the gmail Chrome App, it's a bit naff with all it's colours, but it works. Lost nothing, everything works.
What I don't understand is, what happened? No one seems to be able to answer that question. Software is quick to tell you that you have a problem, scant on information on how to fix it and never explains how the problem arose in the first place.
Insane? Is that French or English? If it's English, my answer would be, I don't know. Maybe, maybe you're ______________? I don't have x-ray vision, that's for sure. I don't know which the CREATOR would judged me as. I prefer to think very hard before saying anything. Just didn't want to get my own words bouncing back to my face. A dialogue from a movie titled 'Dracula', starred by Adrian Paul, when that Chinese guy says 'we spoke of precautions', I think. You, you look like a young species.
Well, my email accounts aren't extreme social type. Usually used to get some information from stores and shopping stuffs. Therefore, I can create new email for that after finishing factory reset. So, for me, I'll keep my phone away from the trash bin site.
How about this then? Maybe you can give me a 5 star rate performance for trying to help you in this world, Or, maybe in the next.
I have this issue from time to rime. Spent ages checking settings - which were all correct, search online with no definitive answer BUT I now k ow the problem goes away if I restart my phone!
