I'm having a problem with automatically connecting to my car's handsfree system, I have to go to bluetooth settings every time to get it to connect. Connecting manually works ok though but is very tedious in the long run and not how bluetooth should work to my understanding.
Does anyone know if this a bug or some feature I'm missing?
The car is a 2013 Subaru Impreza.

I know this is an old thread but just thought I'd post since I found a solution to this. Apparently the Sony phones (Xperia Z3 in my case) automatically try and pair with the code 0000, and many cars have the default password of 1234. If you go to your BT settings(on the car) and reset the password to 0000, the phone pairs just fine. This works with my 2014 Subaru Impreza.
Hope this helps!
you need to remove electric connection of stereo and reconnect. it will give a good reset.
Came across this thread few days ago while having the same issue. I resloved it the other day, here's what it was:
The car is BMW e91 (2011) and my previous phone re-connected without any issues. So I was sure the problem must be the phone. Interestingly enough phone did connect for playing audio, but not for phone function.
One thing raised my attention: discoverable phone name was "Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact", which is rather long (compared to previous Mi5s). So I tried and changed the name visible to others in phone bluetooth settings to "Xperia". My phone now reconnects automatically immediately as I start the car.
Hope it helps someone.
KR!
I had this problem when I bought a new phone. Delete the phone in Bluetooth settings and in Phone settings. Then Initialize the pair the phone through the Phone settings rather than the Bluetooth settings. Probably not how it was designed to work, but it finally did the job for me.
