XZ1C (and other Sony devices) cannot connect to 5 GHz band wifi router using Broadcom chipset

Hi,

I've got a problem where my XZ1C is unable to connect to my wifi router on the 5GHz frequency band. I works on the 2.4GHz band. The same issue is also happening for my old Z3C phone as well as the Z3Tablet Compact. My laptop as well as my old 2nd generation Nexus 7 tablet can connect to the 5GHz network without any problems.

My Sony devices get stuck in the "optaining IP address" part and keeps disconnecting and retrying to connect to the network.

The router I'm having problems connecting to is a Technicolour TG800vac with the Broadcom 4366 wireless chipset.

Thanks.

I also have XZ1C and I have the same problem.

This tip solved my problem:

  1. Go to Settings and tap on Wi-Fi.
  2. Turn on the Wi-Fi and connect to your Connectify hotspot.
  3. Long press on the connected network and select Modify NetworkLongPress
  4. Check Show Advanced Options.
  5. On IP Settings drop down menu, select Static.
  6. Assign IP of your choice but leave other variable untouched.
  7. Join the Connectify Hotspot.

Thanks Tomas for your suggestion.

Sadly, it doesn't appear to work in my case. My device will connect, but will not receive or send any data. I even tried assigning the same staic IP address to my device, but it still didn't work.

Very strange.

Could you tell me which different things you have tried!?
So I dont propose things that you already have tried!

Hi Tomas,

Many thanks for your assistance. The router I was using stopped working a few weeks ago. I ended up getting another router (a different one this time) and I don't have any problems connecting to the 5GHz wifi band any more.

Best Regards.

Try different 5G channel, there should be an option in your router.

I have an ASUS RT-AC66U and it's fine for me.
