Audio issue with speaker

Hi all, 

I'm having audio issues with my speakers on my new Xz1 compact (I've only had it a day). The bass sounds very crackly and I'm wondering if it's a driver issue (I did all the updates while I was at work before I tested out the sound properly) or if it was a preexisting issue.

Looking for any insight, if anyone's dealt with anything similar etc.

Are you using the Music app or a third party app? if the former, which Equalizer settings are you using?

Hi uliwooly, 

It's everything, I've tested ringtones, running music through my YouTube, Facebook, games etc. 

The sound just comes through distorted. I had a similar issue with a laptop I ordered a year ago and the sound issue was pretty much identical and it turned out to be the driver. 

I've tried factory resetting the phone and it's done nada.

I have the same issue. Facebook, whatsupp calls, youtube videos everything sounds very distorted on low volume (not much power in max volume either).  The phone is new and all updates are made. Headphones or listening to normal phone near ear speaker both work well.

As mentioned in another recent thread, I have noticed distortion when playing certain kinds of sounds, notably piano solo where any deviations are more noticeable. I have also noticed distortion when listening to speaking voices, but only when the volume is turned up to about 80% or higher. I think we have determined that this is likely a flaw in the design of the speakers. Considering the advantages of this phone, it's something I've decided I can live with.
