the brightness of my sony xpreia x8 keeps varying on its own, even while i am using any application. ANy idea on why this may be happening?

Your phone has a light sensor. AFAIK it adjusts the brightness to your ambience

beacause you have your brightness on automatic mode, if you want to have on full brughtness always you must change it from setting, display and brightness.
