Where to store messages before software update?

Hi,

Will do a software update on my elm, but a bit confused on where to store my received and sent messages so that they are not lost.

I currently have them in phone memory, but should I move them to memory card? I actually tried that, but the phone said that the messages will be lost if the software is updated,

but in the update software program it says the phone memory will be lost by upgrading. So, what to do? Many thanks.

You can archive them on PC suite.

Edit: You can also save them onto the SIM card which is also unaffected by the software update.

hi, thanks, but so does that mean that either way they will be lost no matter if they are in phone memory or memory card?

And where to get PC suite? Can I install it manually? because when I plug my phone to my pc, the device screen comes up, with options like install media go, import pictures and install pc suite, but when I click on install pc suite, it says "detecting proxy settings' and does nothing. So is there manual install also available?

So, how to save them on SIM card? I dont have that option in my Manage Messages view.

Thank you, I installed it, and clicked backup&restore, so it backuped most of the stuff on my phone to my pc, but I didnt see that messages were backuped, is it included in the 'contacts' field?

And please be so kind to give more details on how to save messages on SIM card, as I simply cant find that option in my phone. Many thanks.

When you are viewing a message, either in the inbox or in the sent messages, from options select save message and this saves it to the SIM card.You can then view these messages in the saved messages under messaging. Messages can be archived in PC suite (click on text messages when you open the PC suite page and the archive options will appear) but cannot be transferred back to the phone through this facility, although they can be viewed at any time without the phone being connected.
