W995 battery issue

My w995 no longer recognises its own battery so can't charge it! Is this a common problem and how do I resolve it?

Take the battery out for a few minutes before restarting your phone.If you have at least 50% charge or can charge it through the USB cable to that level, then run a software update/re-installation via PC or phone repair via PC suite.
