I'm not sure if this is even in the right place, sorry if it isn't.
I got myself a X10 the other week and I love it!
However I would like to know how to play "all" of my songs in MediaScape, not just a certain artist, but all of them....
I have been looking around for ages but no luck,
Any help would be appreciated!
If it's not possible could anyone recommend a good media player?
I am not a great music person but in Mediascape when you select the tab at the bottom for Music (as opposed to video or pictures) then tap More at the top you are taken to another screen with a lot more options in the bottom bar... mine says Recently Played, Recently Added, Favorites, Artists, Albums, Tracks, Genres, Playlists (which I think you make on Media Go), Podcasts, Audiobooks. So I am assuming from one of the above, ie tracks you could start at A and play all the tracks on you phone thru to Z.
There are a couple of music apps that I have heard recommended... Zimly and MixZing, but I have no personal experience of them.
It is possible to go to "artists" but there is no option (that I can find) that allows me to play all tracks/artists and shuffle them, this greatly upsets me and gives me the sad face ->
My K800i/C510 could go it, but the X10 doesn't seem to be able to. It's always the small details that make me sad, other than this the phone is fantastic! I love it.
It can be done - go to the More tab at the top and scroll across to 'Tracks'. That gives you all the music on your phone.
As for playlists, they can't be created using the phone's stock music player, or in MediaGo, but you can inmport them using MediaGo and copy the playlists to your phone as you would a music track. If you want to create playlists from your phone, you might want to try TuneWiki, Zimly or Meridian, all of which allow you to do that. Both are free, or have free versions, so you could download them and see which you like best. I tend to use the stock player for playing music but Zimly for creating playlists. I have the others on my phone just because I like having them! There are probably others, too, but you'd have to search the Market.
Wow, I must have glanced over that tab about 50 or so times... No comment there!
Thank you a great deal! I now have the happy face! ->
I will look into creating playlists with the given media players. Thanks!
That's easy to do - I must have done the same thing a few times when I was trying to find an answer for you!
Of the three media players I mentioned, TuneWiki has most to it - last.fm radio, some sort of TuneWiki community, a facility for looking for music videos on YouTube and all sorts of things I never usually use, but I do have a soft spot for it. I only just discovered that it could be used to create playlists and I might delete the other two. But it's horses for courses, and, as I said, they're all free so you can test them for yourself. I have found very occasionally that Zimly and Meridian start to play a song, apparently at random, over the top of something I am listening to using Mediascape, but that is rare and I wouldn't want to put you off trying them out.
Actually, you can create a playlist from the hidden Music app on the X10. Select a track and long press it. In the menu that pops up, you can add to playlist or create new playlist.
Just gave it a try myself and it works a treat.
Also the new playlist shows up in Mediascape once that app is started.
In case your wondering what the hidden Music app is: tap the left button, select search, then type music.
In the more results part of the list that pops up, Music Pt 1 appears with The Magnetic Nobleman. Select this and the Andriod music app opens up. Or at least it does on my phone.
Are you sure that the 'hidden music app' isn't something that you have downloaded? The search function will usually search for things you have searched for or downloaded. Do you have any other music apps on your phone?
I have not installed any other player on my phone, i found Music in the manage applications menu and wondered what it was. Then one day i was playing around with the voice dialler on my X10 and said open Music and lo and behold the stock android music app opened up. I have seen another user saying that he managed to use a file manager app to officialy install the app on the phone to allow you to use it without resorting to the search workaround i mentioned in my earlier post.
Edit: The search only finds the Music app on your phone if in Settings/Search your searchable Items has Music ticked.
I can see the music app that you are talking about but I can't get it to launch.
I did something similar with the Sound Recorder app that's on the phone but hidden. I use ADW launcher so you can long press on the home screen and select custom short cut, then pick your activity then select Activities. You can see Music but there lots of files but not one that looks like the launcher of the Music application. I also looked for it with Linda file manager but couldn't find it with that.
I don't have voice dial set up, maybe I'll have a fiddle tomorrow and see what I can do.
Out of interest what's your location and carrier? Just in case its particular to your set up.
