Hi, I haven't quite bricked my Xperia XA2 Ultra but it's now pretty useless after installing LineageOS Discovery, and I think my last hope to restore it to full functionality is to use the Sony EMMA tool.
I understand I need to register with Sony and get my account activated by a Sony representative. I would like in any case to look at developing a utility to allow something similar to PXE booting in the cloud, from Android devices to make installing open source images from boot easier.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Sony reps won't help you with this as it's for developers and beyond their range, they put up a website with directions for who's interested though.
I managed to solve my immediate problem of re-flashing my device using a tool from Sony called the Flash Tool, which is not the full EMMA (I understand EMMA comes from eMMC, the type of storage used for bootloading) but carries the same name when installed.
In any case, I'll take a look at the resource you link to as I am interested in getting on board as a dev with Sony's AOSP (Android Open Source Project).
Flashing my XA2 Ultra device myself with LineageOS is perfectly acceptable from Sony's point of view as the device is part of Sony's Open Devices programme and there are open source software releases released by the company for exactly that reason.
I wish you well on your adventurous quest, they say it's risky and voids the warranty though, have you had any performance issues since?
