Xperia X Compact LED light is off during charing. How do I get it back on in Android 7?

Since 2 years I'm using my Sony Xperia X Compact with Android 7 and until recently the LED light would continuesly light up (first orange, then green when >90%) during charging. Now that only happens when I press the power button. How do I get the LED light back on continuesly while the phone is charging?

@Boeithet I suspect a broken USB cable or defective port. Did you try another one?
