sony cdx-gt50ui - attenuate problems

Hi,

The attenuate (mute) button comes on and off around the same areas when I am driving (eg Junction of M25/A3) and I want to find a way to disable the att function on the radio as I do not have a wired in mobile phone.

Various online forum answers advise taping off the light blue att wire?

Please can someone help me.
