Hi

my vaio has stopped responding totally.

its not powering up and no lights are showing when charger is plugged in. There is a green light on the power adaptor.

its probably about 4 years old and was not used for about a year or so.

its only used occasionally to print emails and that's probably a few times a month.

any advice would be greatly appreciated

All you can do is check that power is reaching the Vaio. I know you said the green light is showing on the power adapter, but it may be worth putting a voltmeter across the plug that fits into the Vaio. I have seen connection problems even with the green light on.

I presume you have tried connecting the power and pressing the ASSIST button when the Vaio is off?

If those do not help, you will need an engineer to look inside at the power board.

no I have not tried these. I'm not good with stuff like this. 

I will take it into work tomorrow and see if anyone who is a bit more knowledgeable to have a look at it.
