My father has a Sony Vaio sve151e11m which is not booting. When he turns it on he sees the Vaio logo, then a blank screen, then it powers off again. My instinct was that the battery was flat and that the power supply was faulty, but he says that there's a green light on the power supply, which suggests that it's OK.
None of the LEDs on the laptop are lit, even when the power supply is connected, and not even when he presses the power button. He's tried manipulating the power plug in the socket, in case it's a loose connection, but can't get any of the LED's to come on.
He's tried removing and re-inserting the battery, but got the same result.
The laptop is within warranty (9 months old) but he's lost the store receipt.
Can anyone suggest anything else to try?
Hi,
If your father has registered the VAIO with Sony they will know how long he has left on his warranty, so they should be able to support him.
I suspect it's a hardware failure of some sort, usually you get a BIOS beeb to tell you what it could be.
Other than that, if it was bought online you can login and find a copy of the invoice there.
Hope that helps,
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately he didn't register it with Sony, and also bought the product in-store at PC World. I think he still has his credit card statement for that period so hopefully PC World will be able to help out.
