Hi All,
Apologies if this in the wrong section of the forum - I am new here!
My step son has been given a Sony PCG 61611M Laptop which seems in excellent condition apart from the fact that the LCD screen doesn't work. It otherwise boots fine as I have plugged the external VGA output into a monitor and it boots perfectly.
My question is, how do I know if this is an LCD screen replacement or, a problem with the screen inverter? Is there a test for this? I am in the UK and I guess I can get a replacement screen and fit myself for about £40?
Any help gladly received please. I am just trying to avoid buying a replacement screen which maybe wont fix the issue.
Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Try shining a torch on the screen. If you can see a faint image then the chances are that this is either an inverter or backlight problem.
