Ripping DVDS (NTSC format) To Sony PC

Hi all, just wanted to find out i'v got an sony vgc-v2m i havent really tried any of the software it comes with, does anybody know if any of the pre installed software can rip dvds? I'v got a dvd in NTSC format and would like to rip it to my pc as an avi or what ever. I'v never done this before so looking for advise on how to go about it.
