recovery utility

My machine has xp pro on it but it failed as the high definition bus driver is not available. I am going to put it back to xp home and have tried to run the recovery utility but it fails with VUR.exe not found. I downloaded the recovery utility from sony website and ran it but it still gives the same. the recovery partition is visible under manage options.

help would be much appreciated.

I think your problem is that if the original operating system is changed you are unable to use the recovery utility as such - Catch 22!
Hopefully you burned your recovery disks before installing XP Pro ¿ these should work from boot. If you didn¿t then try pressing F10 at boot, this should boot the Vaio Recovery partition and let you freshly install.
