PS/2 port on port replicator not working as expected

I have recently purchased a Sony Vaio PCG-GRT966VP and a port replicator and would like to use my PS/2 mouse and keyboard when connected to the port replicator, but I find that I can only have one or the other connected at any time, not both! If I plug in just the mouse or just the keyboard then they work fine, but if I use a standard PS/2 splitter connector (as used on countless other laptops) I find that I can only use the mouse...

Is there a fix for this problem available? Do you know if there is a BIOS update available to enable the dual PS/2 feature?
