problems with network and music sharing

hello i wonder if anybody can advise me - we have 2 computers: a VGC LA1 (upstairs) and a TP1e (downstairs). Both have got vista and windows media centre on them. I have set up a network and filesharing. The problem is that when i look at the network i can see the downstair media server showing up on the UPSTAIRS computer but i can't see the UPSTAIRS media server showing up on the DOWNSTAIRS computer.

I went to my ISP- BT home call and asked them to help me fix it so that i can access music and pictures etc on the media centres from both computes on the network. they took the computer over remotely and couldn't do it for us (apart from copying all our music into public folders to share) They said that the DOWNSTAIRS comp the TP1e has an intel media server but they couldn't find intel media server on the UPSTAIRS comp the VGC LA1 - have i lost it, or inadvertantly deleted it or was it never on the computer in the first place?

Is there something i'm not doing or something i'm missing??
