PCG F610 shut off

My old PCG F610 just winked off last night. One minute it was on then it was dead...not a flicker, nothing. It was on ac power at the time and I bumped it while I was moving it...very small bump but thats when it just went off........
Is there a fuse anywhere in this lap top? I have had it apart before ( fan, hard drive, memory )... so I am able to do my own work on it to a point..... very strange.
Any hints greatly appreciated. Would like to rescue this old machine if possible.

i know how it feels when your machine is out . but i think it time to move on and get a new machine and sell that one after fixing it.

yeah I know ... but in fact since i did the upgrades it really has been very useable!... does what I need. But now it would be nice to fix it, then I won't have to dig out the drive and rescue my info!
I feel it is something simple, but not sure what. Of course it might be gone forever:smileycry:

Are you not even getting the green power light?

thanks for the reply. No not a thing... like not one electron is getting to it!
I had the battery in and out, the power cord in and out.... nothing.
I have it apart presently.... don't see much... the little battery is in place on the board and I have not touched that yet....... don't think that has much to do with the power to the machine...
so that is where I am presently

Is sounds as though something has come adrift on the motherboard, but how you are going to trace the problem I have no idea! I had the same problem on a desktop, a few years ago, and managed to rectify it, but on a notebook¿¿.:smileysad: :slight_frown:

All I can do is wish you luck!

thanks.... are you aware of any fuse in there?... i don't see one.
you may be right ... if it is the board then i expect it is all over. It was so sudden I was hoping for something simple ... a wire getting knocked loose.... just not sure where to look.......
well perhaps someone will have a brilliant idea!
thanks again

There is no fuse that I know of.

Just a thought, do you know for a fact that the battery was functioning prior to the failure? There is always the possibility that it was already dead and it is the power adaptor that has failed.

The only fuse is in the plug.
It could be a lot of things, hope it's not the mobo.

thanks again...
the battery is indeed an antique, but it has been functioning I think, although I haven't used it without plugging in for a long time.
I will look along those lines.
