LCD Screen Dark Area

I want to know if anyone else has experienced a small dark area on their LCD display. It looks like a very small dirty discolouration and is only visible with bright white backgrounds. However, it won't come off with a screen wipe and shows up as a small light coloured patch when you look at the screen from a shallow angle. Is it a defect?

I've owned my Vaio for about three months and I hadn't noticed it before today so not sure if its always been there.

Any advice would be much appreciated,
