Hi! I just bought a FS395 laptop and it was supposed to have 80 GB harddrive. But when I look in my computer, I can only sum up 67.5 if using active or 72.5 when also looking at passive. Is that ok? I feel cheated for at least 10GB!
Thanks for clarifying or any solution?
you have 67.5 to use, and 72.5 in total.
you have an 80gb hdd, BUT 7.5gb is recovery partition (invisible to you)
so that leave the 72.5gb
the 5gb used is windows and pre-installed sony software and 3rd party junk that that Vaio gives you.
this leaves you with the available amount of 67.5gb
hope that clear it up

no problems, best way to get some space back i think is what i did. first thing i did with my new Vaio (S5XP/B 100gb hdd) was to create the recovery disks, i made it on a dual layer dvd-r and then made an image on an external hard drive just to be safe if i ever lost the dvd-r.
then i did a complete format of the hdd (as sony gave me a C & a D, 2 partitions) so with the full format i deleted the recovery partition  woo, 7.5Gb back already!! then created the sizes of partitions I wanted.
Then i was left with a brand new clean hdd with nothing but the drivers & software i wanted off the recovery disks
not sure if people on here would recommend doing this process, but just what i did so may as well share it.
enjoy your Vaio
Make a few copies and it's fine
