Hard Drive Noise

I just replaced my original hard disk (20G) with a new one (Toshiba 40G 5400RPM 16M cache) on my SONY VAIO PCG-FX300.

But there exists a continuous noise (sound like 'titi tata') while the hard disk read/write indicate light twinkle.

I just wonder whether this phenomenon is normal? Thank you in advance!
