hi all

do i need to use a Sony motherboard or can i use a.n.other motherboard

Hi Colin,

Unfortunately the main boards are customised for Sony use only - so you will need a Sony OEM main board.

A new one from the USA is going to cost you $450 by the time you add shipping and the cost of returning the old one: -

It may be worth buying a non-working FS550 from somewhere like eBay.
