cdrom difficulties

I have a sony PCV RX514 with a sony dvd rw dwu12a and a samsung cdrom sc140c they moth came factory fitted with the machine!
I have always had trouble with the samsung being very very slow at reading data,music etc but it seems to be worse with discs I have written on the DWU12a, I have tried different media and also using a lens cleaner, The dvd writer records music,dvds and data well , as i have tried the discs on other machines so i tend to think the problem lies with the samsung rather than the sony, If anyone can be of any help i would be grateful!! :smileyconfused::

Consider replacing the Samsung.

why do u say that first, are they known to be poor?

Not at all.

I'm saying that because you said it wasn't reading well, and if the DVDs work in other drives and not the samsung (and other reading issues) then I would try and replace that first.

i just been investigating the problem a bit further, and it seems the samsung reads other discs fine, just the ones written by my writer cause the problem, but the writer records audio,dvds fine, and also data recorded on it and read on other machines too!! any more ideas?? my next step is to try yet another media, :smileyrolling_eyes:
