Simultaneous Wifi and Wired network

Just bought a KDL 50X89J and love the picture. I use it wired to my router for fast streaming. I tried to enable WiFi at the same time but it doesn't allow me to do this without unplugging the hardwire. Am i missing something, or is this normal behaviour. My old sony worked fine in dual mode, allowing the app on my phone to connect.  Thanks

There is no need for the wifi to be enabled in order for the phone to connect (cast?) with it. They have to be on the same LAN/router.
