Could Sony please place software release notes on product pages within hours, if not at the time of release of new Software for products?
If MS can do so with their Updates Sony should be able to do this.
Support is still showing details of the previous but one release for my receiver.
Hi there
Ive moaned about this too in the past, yet have to accept thats the way it is. A week out. However if you are concerned, you could turn off automatic updates, and periodically check the support pages.
Cheers.
I've been mailed to enquire whether this is an accepted solution. It's an explanation, not a solution. A solution would be the release notes being posted as software releases are made available either on the websote or via the internet.
So as such the topic remains open until this occurs.
So the most recent update description is really vague ....
Improves the Record Function
Why are these so minimalist? Surely some detail as to what issues are addressed would be more useful that that rather bland comment.
Hi chrisbrowe
Just to let you know, that this has been formally proposed to Sony and they are looking at ways to address this in the future (unfortunately this will not be resolved anytime soon). And funnily enough, Ive just wrote to them about this about 2 hours ago.
However, if your expecting a full list of bug fixes - its just not going to happen (commerical sensitivities and all). However we all seem to agree that the current "information" (term used lightly) is certainly not useful at all.
Now the question to you. What would you like Sony to do different? How would you like it improved?
My proposal is something like:
"
This update resolves the following
- Skype has been updated to version XX
- iPlayer has been updated to version XX due to some reported issues
- General fixes that have been reported to Sony.
- New Feature Added - Dual Tuner functionality on models XX, XX, XX.
"
Curious on your thoughts?
Cheers
A detailed explanation of the Fault resolved would be good along the lines of
"The issue where recordings were labelled incorrectly with the preceding programme title and metadata has been fixed. Recording titles should now reflect the programme requested".
(a fault that is still occurring incidentally.)
Being upfront with bug fixes should NEVER be compromised for commercial reasons. It's a sign of weakness to 'cover up' issues. See how Apple dealt with the iOS 8 / iOS 8.0.1 / iOS 8.0.2 debacle for best practice in this instance.
