I bought a new Sony TV a short while ago and I'm finding the EPG has been annoyingly crippled.
I used to make daily extensive use of the EPG 'schedule viewing' feature to auto switch channels, set up an evenings viewing, and also to turn the TV on from standby when a set program started - feature gone. All there is now is 'Timer Rec'
I'm also annoyed that the top of screen EPG program details has been removed to a sub menu. Yes it now shows more channels but is now more steps to see the detail.
This could well be my last Sony.
Hi there,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
Can you let me know the full model of your TV?
Best wishes,
Sean Mc
Thanks for the reply.
The newTV is a KDL-43WF663
Hopefully these links will work: (Sorry for some being out of focus, the camera won't play ball with TV screens)
Old TV EPG showing programs and info on the same page:

The same EPG on the new TV isn't very useful, no top detail:

The old TV had Timer Rec & 'Reminder'. The Reminder function was brilliant for pre setting up viewing or getting the TV to spring into life when a set (Reminder) program was starting:

Sadly, the latest range only have Timer Rec:
Hi KremmenUK1,
I've checked the pictures here, and I can see that both applications are different. The old TV has the Freeview guide, while the new TV has the Freeview Play guide.
In fact, I can see that the Freeview Play guide has added a lot to TVs which were not compatible with most of the catchup services.
While I understand that the features available on Freeview TV Guide are more convenient. But the Freeview play added lots of features that were requested by a lot of users.

Thanks for the info.
I should have investigated before purchase because I never use catchup.
Program info minor inconvenience but no 'Reminder' is a real pain for us. A good feature lost.
Thankyou for the email to sign this off as solved.
I'm going to leave this open as the lack of the old 'Reminder' facility hasn't been solved.
I don't accept that the Freeview Play is getting in the way of that facility. The lack of program detail I'll accept.
