KD-55X9005A vs 4K media players

Hi,

I have Sony KD-55X9005A and as I understand HEVC is not included there

...but does 4K work straightly via Samsung 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray media player UBD-K8500/ZA or via (coming) Chromecast Ultra?

Or HW changes needed at my TV?

Hi there

To answer your question: As long as the connected device can decode the HEVC content, then the TV will play it.  Its just that the TV cannot play HEVC content natively.  So if you purchase a media player than can decode HEVC and that media player is connected to the TV via the 4K HDMI port, then this should play fine.

Just to add to Quinnicus, if it is the 55X9005A you must connect the media device to HDMI port 4 as this should have the relevant upgrade to HDCP 2.2
