Connecting PC to Bravia TV KD-49XE70

Using HDMI lead & connecting TV's HDMI port directly to PC's HDMI port, TV screen shows PC's desktop ok BUT only intermittently - ie it flashes on for 2 secs then off, then on, etc

Any ideas as to how to make desktop appear on TV permanently, please?

Have you tried to connect any other devices via the HDMI lead to the TV sucessfully?
