A four year old Bravia KDL-50W65xA. Happily watching TV for over an hour when the picture distorted a bit, looked like poor signal, the same on all channels so switched off then on again. Screen came back showing nothing but clouds of colour, like a screen full of coloured barcodes. Sound working OK, the screen looks the same from all inputs so looks like a major screen fault. Turning off and on doesn’t help, leaving over night no different.
The nature of the bands and the swirling colours changes but the basic look stays the same.
Appreciate any comments on whether it’s likely to be economically repairable.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
I'm looking into this and will get to you soon.
Thanks,

Hi MillHouseSkip,
I guess you made most of the troubleshooting to identify the issue, one late thing to do which is pressing on the menu or home button. If you get the menu on the screen that will be the input fault, not the TV, if the menu doesn't appear, then this is a panel issue, the TV will need to be checked by a service centre at this point.
You can locate the nearest Sony service centre using this link: http://bit.ly/2HUo9mF.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for replies.
I tried the Menu and it works in so far as the sound tells you the channel is changing but the picture remains the same.
Looks like I need to check out the nearest service centre to see if it can be repaired economically.
Cheers
Pete
