Bravia KDL-37EX503 Audio using HDMI

I'm not getting any sound when linking laptop (Windows 😎 to TV with HDMI connection; picture is fine (e.g. when watching Netflix). Tried all HDMI ports, but no sound from any of them.

I cant tell you how to do it in windows 8 - however this could be because audio over HDMI is disabled. 
In Windows 7 it is resolved by going to the Sound settings in control panel and ensuring that its not disabled (ensure HDMI cable is connected first though).  See pic below:
