Muffin1947 is not alone. I have had the same problem since Monday 19 December 2016. My tv is a KDL-22EX320 purchased in February 2012. On Sunday 18 we started watching a programme and the i-Player was ok. When we went back on Monday to watch the rest the i-Player wouldn't work with exactly the symptoms described. It is still not working today 21 December 2016. Every action produces the error message "Internet Download failed etc.."

I received a further reply today from Sony - however unfortunately this issue is still on-going and in the hands of the BBC to resolve. The problem appears to be quite complex.
