My first post on this site so hello everybody. I set the trace a pattern security system for the phone. Later when trying to do two things at once I got the pattern wrong five times. I then compounded the problem by getting the succeeding attempts wrong as well until the phone locked me out. Like many others it seems I set-up my gmail account without recording the pertinant details, gmail address and password, these are the requirements to unlock the phone. The official X10 user guide is no help on the subject. I have also been to various websites looking for advice and have found no information at all, apart from don't do it of course! I went to a phone shop and their advice was to use PC Companion to reset the phone but of course I need to mount the phone in order that the software sees it. I am resigned to resetting the phone as the solution as I am backed up but even if I reset I will still need the gmail info to enable all of the Google features. I know it is the result of being a dufus but it seems like a bit of a terminal cul-de-sac at the moment. Is there a particular chain of shop that I must visit? What should my next move be please?

Ahhhh if only I had a £ for every time I answer this query, I'd be a rich woman by now:smileywink:
You are right that you can't use PC Companion cos you can't mount a locked phone but you can use Sony Ericsson Update Service to do the reset.

Hope it helps!
Instead of using SE PC Companion download and install Sony Ericsson Update Service and update the phone using that. It will remove the lock and let you start over again.

Snap! You beat me to it.
Thanks very much guys. All replies have been helpful and fast in response to my cry for help. Currently in the process of training the phone to behave my way. Zero chance that the pattern security will get switched on!
I had the same problem with my son's first android phone and the pattern lock at which point I decided that I would never use the feature cos it's a pain in the rear end to sort out.
Hope you got sorted and if you have any other queries as you get used to your phone, then you know where to ask!
