UBP-X800 problem with DVD menus

I've just bought a Marantz NR1711 AV Receiver. When playing DVD's, 2nd level menu items are not selectable. This did not happen with my previous Marantz NR1506. Blurays seem to work correctly. Connecting the player directly to my KD-43XE8005 TV, the menus all work properly. I'm puzzled how just connecting to an AV amp can affect menu selection on the player. Has anyone ever had a similar problem, or indeed suggest a solution?

BTW, I tried connecting the audio only HDMI output to the amp and the audio/video HDMI output to the TV but this made no difference.

At my age I really should know better. I tried the nuclear option and did a full factory reset. Result? Everything now working properly. Goodness knows which rogue setting caused the problem but I'm just relieved it's working.
