Sound issues TV, Bluray and Virgin

I have a Sony KDL37EX503,  Sony Bluray BDVE370 surround and Virgin. Until recently I had no problems getting the sound through the Bluray. Now I only get the tinny TV speakers. The Bluray will work with the tv though, but not from the Virgin box. Any ideas?

Cables:

TV to Virgin: HDMI

TV to Bluray:HDMI

Virgin to Bluray: Scart /audio red/white

Hi,

why on earth have you connected the virgin box to the BluRay player?, this serves no perpose whatsoever, the first two connections are correct albeit wrong way round!, BluRay to TV via HDMI and Virgin to TV via HDMI.

Thanks

However I`m not sure what the difference is between (eg) BluRay to TV and TV to BluRay.  Surely an HDMI is the same whichever way you put it in?

I don`t have any problem getting sound on the TV from Virgin, I just get it on the TV speakers only. Yet if I put a BLuRay disc on, the sound is surround.  What I want is the TV/Virgin sound to also come through the better quality BluRay sound.

This is why I thought I needed the audio cables from the Virgin to the BluRay. Everthing worked till last weekend, perhaps I didn`t ever need these audio cables in the first place, but just to add, I have of course changed the Sound Settings to Sound System rather than TV speakers, so this is not the problem.
