sony blu ray s570 is skipping ?!

Was given a sony blu ray s570 for xmas, but when I play dvds on it, every dvd skipped.

It skips once during the film normally half way through. Its like someone hits the pause button for 1 second then unpauses it .

So I returned the blu ray player and got another one. This one is again doing the same, Any ideas why this might be? anyone else had this problem?

It may not seem that bad to you, but its really annoying me, and if you pay alot of money for this, you dont expect this kinda of thing to happen.

I have just returned one as well. The player was very noisy. Out of interest where did you buy yours? I am just wondering if there is a bad batch?

This happened to me until I realised that my TV could only manage 1080i and the player was set to 1080p.  Changed the setting and havn't had any trouble since.   p.s. I also disabled HDMI control at the same time as there seemed to be interference from another HDMI device.

I'll try to disable hdmi control and maybe fiddle with other settings

I have a Sony BDP 370 and a Sony Bravia TV with 1080p. This player also skips if set to auto or 1080p.

I can only make it play smoothly if i change it to 1080i. Picture still looks good , but am I losing any quality?

If I'm playing a bulray disc and change it back to 1080p it then plays ok.

I tried changing it to 1080i .tried other things as well , still same problem. still skips.

think it will go back this weekend. its a shame, cause apart from this. I like this blu ray player
