I am considering buying this setup but the person in question sold the Blu-Ray player separately to someone else. Does anyone know where I can purchase either the Blu Ray player or what other Blu Ray players this would be compatible with?
I have been in touch with the Sony Support Centre but they do not sell the unit separately and cannot advise it's compatibility with any other players

Hi @billj89
The specification gives you a few alternatives with the same speaker ratings. The problem here is that these type of systems generally use non-standard mix of impedance speakers which are generally only matched to their amplifier. It is probably best to buy the entire system or none.
BDV-E6100/BDV-E4100/BDV-E3100
POWER OUTPUT (rated)
Front L/Front R:
75 W + 75 W (at 3 ohms, 1 kHz,
1% THD)
POWER OUTPUT (reference)
Front L/Front R/Surround L/Surround R:
125 W (per channel at 3 ohms, 1 kHz)
Center:
250 W (at 6 ohms, 1 kHz)
Subwoofer:
250 W (at 6 ohms, 80 Hz)
So would these speakers be deemed useless without the original player?

Hi @billj89 The problem is the 3 ohms speakers. The normal requirement for stand alone av amplifiers is 6 ohms. I wouldn't be surprised to find that manufacturers do this deliberately to sell complete systems and prevent people using their old speakers!
